Training for College: Room Cleanliness

Keeping my room clean during school turned out to be more of a challenge than I thought. Dorm rooms get messy really fast! There's tons of things to dust off and trash to pick up. Also, you owe it to your roommate to keep your things in line (or some wars might break out). Here are some easy tips to keep the mice out while at school:
  • Plan it out. Cleaning is like studying: you have to do it. Planning out a time of day to clean will help you keep your room in order.
  • Divide and conquer. Split the work with your roommate. Make agreements on when to clean and keep each other accountable for it!
  • Clean regularly. The more you clean, the less messy your room will be. If you clean your bathroom once every two weeks versus once a week, you may find it slightly more disgusting.
  • Take out the trash out! This was my biggest struggle. My roommate and I loved to play chicken with the trashcan. It was usually overflowing by the time one of us finally emptied it! If you can get this down, you will have the cleanest room on campus!
  • Throw things out. If you don't need it, throw it away. Dorm rooms are small and they can clutter up really fast.
Happy cleaning!
